Cormorant fishing is a traditional method previously used in countries like Japan, Korea and China. Fishermen train cormorants to fish in rivers and they tie a lace at the base of the animal’s throat. In this way, the bird will not swallow the big preys and it will be pulled back in the boat and spit the fish up. This picture shows this traditional fishing way on the Li river, in the chinese region of Guizhou.
